The Campaign for Gun Violence Prevention

The RI Democratic Women's Caucus is proud to join the Campaign for Gun Violence Prevention partners and sign on in support of an important package of bills before the general assembly.

In order to get these bills passed, we need your help! Our Reps and Senators need to know that support for these life-saving bills is stronger than ever.

Take action today by going to https://www.ricagv.org/action/

There you'll find links to help make it as easy as possible for you to: sign up to give written and verbal testimony for the bills (REALLY IMPORTANT FOR THIS WEEK!); get on record for your support of the bills; and learn of other ongoing efforts YOU can take to help support this legistlation.

2021 represents our best chance of getting substantive legislation passed. But it won’t happen unless our legislators hear from you!

The will to pass these bills in the General Assembly is strong, and a majority of Senators and Representatives have co-sponsored bills to:

  • Ban the sale of large-capacity magazines

  • Ban the sale of military-style assault weapons like the AR-15

  • Keep untrained civilians from carrying guns into our schools

  • Make sure firearms are stored safely

  • Reduce the number of “straw purchase” of firearms

Our elected officials need to know that Rhode Islanders who support gun safety legislation will have their backs in the face of enormous hostility from the gun lobby and its supporters.

We don't need to feel helpless and hopeless in the face of an endless newscycle filled with reports of mass shootings and other gun violence. We can do something about it, and it starts here at the local level. Take action today!
